FM Theatre Productions and Astra Theatre are back again with the ever-popular and original Rock n Roll panto this Christmas. This year's offering is Aladdin, one of the most popular children's stories. Directed by none other than Chris Gatt and Cathy Lawlor as musical director. The script is by Peter Rowe, and adapted by Edward Mercieca.
Set in Shanghai or is it Ra Butt?? Anyway somewhere in the orient, or was it Orienti??? The evil sorcerer Abanazer wants to get his hands on the magic lamp left in the salt mines of Qbajjar by the grandfather of all evil sorcerers, Ya Ki Poo! But he needs a simple kinda guy to do it for him. Cue Aladdin, who lives with his mum Widow Twankey and his brother, Wishee Washee! Of course, there is much romance with the beautiful Princess TrikkiTrakki, a real firecracker! Add Genie, The Grand Vizier, Emperor Wan Hung Lo and of course, a monkey called Noodles and hilarity, mayhem and romps are the inevitable result.
Like last year, the cast is also the band on stage and the roller coaster adventure story is peppered with many songs from the charts of yesterday and today. The wonderful cast is led by veteran panto actor, Edward Mercieca, who plays the hilarious Widow Twankey, of course, he is joined on stage and in the band by Cathy Lawlor, Sean Borg, Gianni Selvaggi, Tina Rizzo, Sandie Von Brockdorff, Hannah Attard, Pete Farrugia and Dan Ganado.
