Antonino Interisano once again at the Astra

26 September 2009

Another return to Teatru Astra's Festival Mediterranea opera production is young Italian tenor Antonino Interisano. After his successful interpretation of Turiddu in Cavalleria Rusticana, Canio in Pagliacci and Calaf in Puccini's Turandot, he will now interpret Duke of Mantua in Verdi's opera Rigoletto on the 29 and 31 October at the Astra.

Antonino Interisano is a tenor whose lyrico-dramatic voice enables him to tackle the most intriguing repertoire with confidence and assertion. He began his vocal technique studies privately at the young age of nineteen. In 2000 he was coached at the Academy headed by world renowned Katia Ricciarelli, after which he had the privilege to further vocal studies with MÂș Leone Magiera, and theatre studies with the famous tenor Luciano Pavarotti.

His debut was at the Teatro dell'Opera in Rome in the role of Rodolfo in La Boheme. In the last few years his repertoire has grown remarkably with the interpretation of the most demanding roles: Foresto in Attila; Cavaradossi in Tosca; Turiddu in Cavalleria Rusticana (at Teatro Politeama Greco, Lecce, under the artistic direction of Katia Ricciarelli); Ascesa e caduta della citta' di Mahagonny of Kurt Weill; Manrico in Il Trovatore (at the New National Theatre of Tokyo); Don Carlo, Don Jose' in Carmen; Rinuccio in Gianni Schicchi (under the artistic direction of Katia Ricciarelli); Radames in Aida; Ismaele in Nabucco; Calaf in Turandot; Don Alvaro in La Forza del Destino; and Canio in Pagliacci.

Rich in the same way is Interisano's concert activity. He has performed extensively, namely for the Radio-Sinfonie Orchestre Krakau, entitled "Belcanto Opera Gala" which gave him the possibility to be seen in most famous Concert Halls of Germany such as Gewandhaus of Leipzig, the Philharmonie of Munich, and the most prestigious Berliner Philharmonie.
