Italian tenor for La Traviata at Teatru Astra

 La Traviata, in the ninth edition of Festival Mediterranea, which will be held on Thursday 28 and Saturday 30 October will mark the first appearance of Alessandro Liberatore on the stage of Teatru Astra.  Liberatore, a tenor will be interpreting the role of Alfredo Germont.

Born in Rome, Alessandro Liberatore studied piano and singing. He attended masterclasses with Rockwell Blake at the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia in Rome. He is specializing under the guidance of Claudio Di Segni. He was the winner of international competitions such as the prestigious "Enrico Caruso" Prize and the “Zandonai” Competition.

He debuted singing as Don Ottavio in Don Giovanni. His repertoire includes operas by Mozart, Bellini, Verdi, Puccini, as well as the French operas.

In October 2002, he sang in recital with Luciano Pavarotti in Montecarlo, subsequently he has started a successful career, having performed in several opera and concert houses in Italy. He appeared at the Auditorium Verdi in Milano in Menotti’s Amal e gli ospiti notturni under the baton of Romano Gandolfi and in Nabucco (Ismaele) in Rovigo, Pisa, Trento and Bolzano.

In the past seasons he sang: Tebaldo (I Capuleti e i Montecchi) at the Teatro dell’Opera in Rome with Nello Santi conductor; Ismaele in Nabucco at the Teatro Carlo Felice in Genoa under the baton of Riccardo Frizza; Alfredo (La Traviata) in various italian theatres and in Madrid in the renowned production staged by Franco Zeffirelli; Rodolfo (La Bohème) at the Teatro delle Muse in Ancona, in Agrigento in a new production staged by Luciano Pavarotti and in several Italian theatres, at the Deutsche Oper in Berlin, at the Teatro Sao Carlos in Lisbon; Riccardo (Un ballo in maschera) at the Teatro Bellini in Catania and at the Teatro Massimo in Palermo; Pinkerton (Madama Butterfly) in Tokyo, in Osaka and in Bologna; La clemenza di Tito (title role) in Sassari and Bergen; Cassio (Otello) at the Teatro San Carlo and in Sassari; Werther (title role) in Sassari; Marco Antonio in Lauro Rossi’s Cleopatra at the Sferisterio Theatre in Macerata; Nabucco at the Teatro La Fenice in Venice.

In December 2008 he made his début as Nicias in Thais (Nicias) at the Teatro Regio in Turin under the baton of Gianandrea Noseda, after that he performed Madama Butterfly at the Florida Grand Opera in Miami, Macduff in Macbeth in Sassari, Rigoletto (il duca di Mantova) at the Teatro Massimo in Palermo. More recently he sang Arbace in Idomeneo at the Teatro Regio in Turin; Nemorino in L’elisir d’amore in Vercelli and Alessandria; Der Rosenkavalier in Barcelona; La Bohème with the Scottish Opera in Belfast and Dublin; I Lombardi alla prima crociata (Arvino) at the Sferisterio Opera Festival in Macerata; Idomeneo at the Settimane Musicali in Stresa.

Actually he is engaged in Adelia (Oliviero) in Toblach and among his future engagements it is worth mentioning: Puccini’s Messa di Gloria in Toblach; La Bohème in Hong Kong and Lucio Silla in Barcelona

The National Philharmonic Orchestra in La Traviata will be conducted by Prof Mro Joseph Vella while the artistic direction is entrusted to Marco Gandini.
