Following the launch of the students’ scheme, Teatru Astra’s opera La Traviata is being promoted on the University of Malta campus. This scheme aimed at students offers a heavy discounted price for opera tickets. 200 tickets have been made available on a first-come first-served basis to students aged 25 years or under in Malta or Gozo for the premiere night of the opera production on Thursday 28th October. Hence, the original price of the €50 is now on sale for students at just €10.
Bank of Valletta, besides being an official partner with Teatru Astra in the organisation of Festival Mediterranea is actively collaborating in promoting this scheme. The launch of this scheme coincides with the Freshers Week which is being organised at the University of Malta to mark the new academic year.
The Bank of Valletta stand on campus is promoting the opera at Teatru Astra, particularly, the newly launched students’ scheme. Brochures and other information material on the ninth edition of Festival are also available on the stand, which is being manned by the Bank’s employees.
Following a two-year experience in running this scheme, it is expected the same significant interest generated in 2008 and 2009 will be noted this year. The aims of this scheme are twofold. Teatru Astra, besides making opera affordable to students is also helping in the fostering of a new generation of opera lovers.
La Traviata forms part of the ninth edition of Festival Mediterranea. Information on the opera and all the other festival events are available on helpdesk number 21550985 and email [email protected]
