Opera in Gozo features prominently in local press

Following the offical launch of the tenth edition of Festival Mediterranea at the Bank of Valletta operations centre in Malta earlier this last week, the local media reported extensivley the first of a series of media releases that Teatru Astra is planning in the run up to the festiva,l which kick starts on Thursday 27 October 2011 with the production of Vincenzo Bellini's master piece, Norma. The second represenation of Norma will take place on Saturday 29 October at 7.30pm. News featrues have been reported on The Malta Independent and online portals Maltarightnow and Di-ve amongst others. 

It is expected that in line with prior years this double performance of Norma will draw crowds of people from the sister island, Malta - an event which generates a signficant amount of activity across the islands. It is being reported that of number of accomodation facilities in Gozo during the particular opera weekend are already booked to capacity.  Besides being at the forefront of the artistic scene in the local islands, through its high culture quality activites, namley the opera, Teatru Astra is contributing signficantly to the social and economic development of Gozo.
