4 February 2012

On the 31st of March, Saturday, the Teatru Astra will be exploding with colour and movement -  on an unprecedented event, a Gozo theatre will accommodate the largest amount of dancers ever to perform on one stage. Gozitan and Maltese dancers alike will join forces to bring to our sister island YADA's trademark shows - fantastic choreography, spectacular movement, colour in costumes and of course the festive rhythm of Latin America. Brazil is renowned for its expertise in fiesta, carnival and the call of the wild and joy of living. Samba, Salsa, Bossa Nova and Rumba will certainly be a part of RIO's repertoire. The show will also include music from the popular animated movie soundtrack of RIO itself.

With light design and projection design by renowned Maltese technicians and artists, a total of some 700 costumes, participation by The YADA Dance Company and a total of some 280 dancers including the able young teams of all these established dance schools, RIO promises to be another feather in the cap of YADA, The  College of Jazz Dance and the Teatru Astra Management.
