Adds further photos from yesterday's rehearsal at the Robert Sammut Hall.
Preparations are well underway for Teatru Astra's upcoming production of 'La Traviata'. The main cast together with members of Teatru Astra Opera Chorus have traveled to mainland Malta for their first rehearsal with the Malta Philharmonic Orchestra, at Robert Samut Hall in Floriana. As the rehearsal progressed, it was becoming more than evident that all those involved in this production are well prepared, with frequent outbursts of applause by those participating following arias sang by soprano Miriam Cauchi, who sings the leading role of Violetta, and for tenor Alessandro Liberatore, who sings that of Alfredo in this much loved Giuseppe Verdi's opera. Concurrently to the rehearsal, works are continuing on the stage set at the Astra as well as in the Costumes Department where final touches are being given to 'La Traviata's wardrobe and the intimate setting created for this production by Artistic Director Marco Gandini.
La Traviata opens this year’s edition of the month-long Festival Mediterranea, organised by the Teatru Astra for the ninth consecutive year. The festival offers a wide variety of cultural events, ranging from music, theatre, dance, history, heritage (with the participation of leading scholar Dr David Trump), and local crafts including those related to food and wine, until 28 November.
More information and booking for Festival Mediterraena's events and opera La Traviata are available on helpdesk no 2155 0985.
